How I work
I'm based in Birmingham and cover the West Midlands, Warwickshire and the Cotswolds, although I'm happy to travel throughout the UK.
Bespoke photo shoots take place at the client's home, or at a favourite location, such as a park or garden, discussed at the time of booking.
I don't charge a cancellation fee should a child or family member be unwell (or just having one of those days) on the day of the shoot and I'm happy to re-schedule.
If you would like your photographs taken inside against a crisp white backdrop, I can bring along a portable background support system but this does require a minimum floor area of about 3.5 x 3 metres, and 2.5 metres height. If you don't have this space available at your home, then perhaps there is a village hall or other venue nearby that can be hired for the photo shoot?
Photo shoots last between 2 and 3 hours depending on the age of the children and number of people to be photographed. That gives time for us to relax and get to know each other before the photography begins. Young babies need less time, about an hour. Your child can have several changes of clothing during the shoot and be photographed with any favourite toys or possessions, or just running around and having fun. There is no formal posing and the focus is on just having an enjoyable time in comfortable surroundings.
If you are a member of a play or toddler group and have the premises available for me to set up my portable studio, then I am happy to come along for the day or half-day and photograph individual children at 30 minute intervals.
During the shoot, my cameras will be capturing two images of each photograph simultaneously - a 6Mb jpeg and a 20Mb RAW file. A week or so after the shoot I'll come back and show you the edited jpeg pictures on a laptop screen and you can choose any you might like printed. The high quality RAW image file is used for the post-production Photoshop work carried out before your prints are made - colour correcting, cropping, converting to black & white, or removing any biscuit crumbs, chocolate smears or nose runs!
Prints are made to your chosen size on archival paper, ready for you to put into your own frames. I can quote for any special framing you might require, or for printing on canvas.
